Meet Your Teacher!
Holly Poss - Elevate Founder & Artistic Director
Holly Poss is the Artistic Director for Elevate. She has been teaching and choreographing dance for over 20 years and has won many awards including the highest artistic scoring routine out of over 100 dances two different times, High School Dance Team State Championships in Illinois, National Finalist trophies in Illinois and Florida, and numerous Platinum scoring dances.
Holly studied dance at Northern Illinois University under Randall Newsom and has coached High School Dance Teams for 13 years while also teaching at different studios for two decades. She was the Artistic Director and owner of a dance studio in Aurora, IL called Passion Dance Project. After that, she served as a Competitive Dance Judge in the Illinois High School Association state circuit.
Holly has taught kids as young as 3 through adults over 50 and has been a freelance choreographer for soloists, teams and companies over the years. She has choreographed and directed various musicals and run several dance and theatre camps and clinics. Most recently Holly was the Dance Elective teacher at Water Spring Middle School and ran competitive dance teams through Elevate while coaching the Varsity Dance Team at Horizon High.
Holly’s favorite dance style is contemporary and she loves pushing students to achieve more than they think they can! She believes that no matter the age and skill level of the student, everyone deserves to experience the beauty and freedom that dance provides and there is always room to grow as performers and humans. She knows that performers thrive most in a positive and professional atmosphere. Students are taught to encourage and respect each other so that they can build relationships and feel empowered through joy and hard work.
Holly has three amazing children. Gwen is in high school, Natalie is in middle school and Kane is a 3rd grader here in Winter Garden. She loves to write novels, take pictures of her kids, plan vacations and curl up in her hammock to read books as often as possible. She feels so lucky to get to live out her passions of dancing, teaching, creating, and (most importantly) momming!
